Hello everyone! This is Chanko.
And so, this is the momentous first post on the “Getting a Pet” blog.
This blog aims to help you eventually welcome a dog into your home.
To achieve this, you first need to clarify “why you can’t have a dog right now.”
This time, I’ve decided to list the main challenges I see.
Furthermore, I plan to delve deeper into each of these points in future articles.
So, here we go.

To those reading this blog
I’ve posted many articles so far, but most of the comments I receive are written in English.
So, this time I tried posting in English. However, I’m not sure if it’s done well.
Therefore, if you notice anything that sounds strange or odd, please let me know in the comments.
I’m also looking forward to receiving requests!
Three Reasons Why I Can’t Own a Dog Yet
There are three main reasons why I can’t own a dog at this stage:
I travel frequently
I have financial concerns
I have concerns about my living environment
None of these are easily solved problems.
Even so, when I imagine living with a dog, my desire to have one someday remains unchanged.
That’s why, in this blog, I want to confront each challenge one by one and think about solutions.
I travel frequently
My family travels about 3-4 times a year.
Traveling itself is fun, but if I were to own a dog, I would have to consider what would happen while I’m away.
Of course, there are options like using a pet hotel or a hotel that allows dogs.
However, I feel that both of these are a little difficult for me at the moment.
Reasons for Hesitation Regarding Pet Hotels
I would prefer not to leave my dog at a pet hotel if possible.
Of course, I understand that they provide proper care in a well-equipped facility.
However, I worry that it might cause anxiety or at least be more stressful for my dog than being at home, as it will be an unfamiliar environment.
I don’t know exactly how much stress it would be.
Even so, I’m a little concerned when I consider it from my dog’s perspective.
Challenges in Traveling with Pets
On the other hand, there are also challenges with hotels that allow dogs.
Firstly, my family has a hotel we use every year, and it doesn’t allow pets.
Therefore, I can’t travel with my dog.
Also, pet-friendly hotels can sometimes be more expensive than regular hotels.
Therefore, I believe the travel issue is also related to financial constraints.
At this point, traveling with my dog doesn’t seem easy.
Financial Challenges
Getting a dog requires money.
I haven’t researched the costs of owning a dog in detail yet, but I’m sure it will require more money than I currently have, including initial costs and monthly expenses.
Besides food and toilet supplies, I also need to consider vet visits if the dog gets sick.
Therefore, I’m currently worried about the financial aspects.
This blog also aims to help me raise funds for welcoming a dog.
I’ve only just started and haven’t seen significant results yet, but I want to keep trying little by little.
Also, if I am able to get a dog, I’m considering adopting a rescue dog.
However, even with a rescue dog, sufficient preparation and expenses are necessary, so I need to carefully consider the financial challenges.
Concerns about the living environment
When you get a dog, maintaining your current living environment might seem like the right thing to do.
For example, wallpaper and floors might get dirty, or odors might become a concern.
Now, I think there are many ways to prevent these things.
However, my family isn’t yet fully prepared to accept the changes.
My father, in particular, is quite neat and tidy, and is worried about the house getting dirty or smelly.
Therefore, this issue has become one of the major challenges in welcoming a dog into our home.
I don’t currently have a clear solution, but I plan to research and think about it little by little.
In conclusion
Today, I’ve tried to organize my thoughts on why I can’t yet own a dog.
None of these problems are easily solved, but I want to move forward while considering each one.
If you have any good ideas or experiences to share, please let me know.
